What is it?

Bioenergy is the most widely used renewable source of energy in the world. It provided almost all global energy two centuries ago, and still it provides 11% of the world primary energy supplies. A wide range of environmentally sound and cost-competitive bioenergy systems are already available to provide a substantial contribution to future energy needs. With more sustainable production methods, the benefits of bioenergy, including waste minimisation, reducing pollution, conservation of natural resources and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, will keep intensifying.

Faciela Energy’s business strategy is focused on producing the lowest cost vegetable oils for domestic consumption in countries with supportive policies for mixing biofuels into transport and stationary power fuel products. In many cases, this will be from the plant jatropha which is gaining popularity due to its unique properties. However, in some regions, soya, palm or other crops may produce lower cost oils or generate other market advantages, so Faciela Energy works with each Partner to determine the best vegetable oil to produce.

Faciela Energy’s strategy to develop biofuels production is based on dramatically changing market conditions in the liquid fuels industry. But Faciela’s interests and expertise go beyond biofuels for transport. The opportunities to exploit the vast potential of bioenergy in target countries include anaerobic digestion, landfill gas, distributed generation and biofuels for cooking. Faciela Energy is cognizant of these opportunities and is familiar with the technologies.
